Looking in to LinkedIn
We believe in the underdog.
LinkedIn feels kind of like the underdog of social media platforms. It feels less fun and is slightly underrated. We’ll tell you exactly why we believe in it. Networking can lead to a whole host of opportunities. Whether from mutual friends, to prospective employers, to alumni from your university, LinkedIn is a prime platform to engage in networking for work, internships, or other professional opportunities.
Having an online presence can be a helpful piece of networking yourself and selling your skills. If you don't have a website or online portfolio, using LinkedIn can be that for you. It is a great tool to build your personal and professional brand. If you do have a website or portfolio, link it on LinkedIn to serve as an effective way to integrate your credibility, brand, and experience in various areas on one professional platform.
Our Elevate Your Edge method specifically hosts its community group on LinkedIn for the purpose of bringing networking and community together. The two sound similar, but are often associated separately from one another. We use LinkedIn to join both the network and the community together.
Sometimes networking can feel lonely or sterile, like throwing spaghetti on the wall and hoping it sticks. Community is essential to network together and encourage one another on the journey
Community prompts growth, naturally. LinkedIn is a platform for you to meet people like and unlike you, explore industries, apply for jobs, and build professional relationships by encouraging others, congratulating promotions, and engaging with insights.
LinkedIn sometimes has the reputation of being boring, pointless, or simply not beneficial or successful. It's kind of like the underdog of social media. It's the less fun and more professional platform, like the relevant friend who grew up too fast and took things too seriously. The atmosphere and mood is different on LinkedIn. We upsell ourselves and we're on our best behavior. But, don't count out the underdog!
Story time.
We believe in LinkedIn as a powerful tool and would recommend it to any and all young adults looking for opportunities. Not only do we recommend it, though, the Elevate Your Edge team is a living, breathing example of LinkedIn networking spiraling into career growth and opportunity. They met on LinkedIn!
We’ve introduced Ethan, the founder of Lead 3C and creator of the Elevate Your Edge method (if you haven’t met Ethan yet, click here), but now we’ll introduce Lisa, the content creator and copywriter for Elevate Your Edge.
A little about Lisa:
She graduated from Lee University with a degree in English and an emphasis in writing. With a love of words and a desire to work in content design, Lisa couldn’t imagine a better opportunity than Elevate Your Edge to use both while being a part in something big: assisting others in discovering the right path toward their very own purpose. Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Lisa moved to southeast Tennessee to jump on the journey train toward her purpose, following her nose into what felt like the right risks to take. After graduating and looking for career paths, LinkedIn became a quick confidant to Lisa.
Fast forward an empty full-time job later and aimlessly scrolling through LinkedIn days at a time, Ethan and Lisa connected on LinkedIn. Lisa was looking for writing opportunities and had a bare profile to show for it, and Ethan was looking for a freelance writer to assist in website copy. With mutual contacts from their shared Alma mater, Ethan and Lisa connected on LinkedIn and networked from there. Now, Lisa joins Ethan in Elevate Your Edge doing work that matters, not only to the team behind the method, but to every person that comes in their path.
We of course can't guarantee the perfect connection will be networked, or the ideal employer will offer you a full-time job. But we can guarantee that LinkedIn is a purposeful and beneficial tool during this stage of life. It allows networking, it is a medium to display your resume, it encourages job searching and open communication. Just ask the team behind Elevate Your Edge! You never know where your professional personality can take you. We're here to help you get started.
